Working local with one database
Working local with one database References We are working with GIT while development but keep sending each other database exports. I would like to use one database on a development server (as suggested to be the easiest solution on Keeping WP database synced across multiple developers using git) But WP saves saves the domainname and while working local, for example localhost/project. All urls still point to dev.domain.com/ Can we overcome this problem or should we try another approach?

Passing Flashvars in Facebook via Open Graph
Passing Flashvars in Facebook via Open Graph References I\'m trying to play my customize video player in my facebook timeline. It loads my custom video player but it won\'t pass the clip id to my swf via flashvars. For some reason I keep getting NULL returned. Here\'s the OG tag: Here\'s how I tried to load the flashvars: var paramList:Object = root.loaderInfo.parameters; var myParam:String = paramList[\"clip_id\"]; If I hand code the clip id inside the swf file then the video player plays it.

How to interpret comma-comma-at in Common Lisp?
How to interpret comma-comma-at in Common Lisp? References Edit: In my examples, => means \"evaluates to\", and -> means \"expands to under macroexpand-1\". I\'m trying to wrap my head around nested back-quoting in Common Lisp, and I think I\'m very close to understanding it, thanks to several other SO questions (please don\'t refer me to them--I\'ve seen them). There\'s just one last thing that\'s nagging me. Consider: `(a `(b ,,@(list \'c \'d))) => (a `(b ,c ,d)) Following the algorithm for expanding back-quoted forms in CLHS, I stepped through the (read-time) expansion process of the first form above, and indeed, evaluating the form obtained from that expansion does give an equivalent result. Now, consider the definition of once-only given by Peter Seibel in his excellent book. (defmacro once-only ((&rest names) &body body) (let ((gensyms (loop for n in names collect (gensym)))) `(let (,@(loop for g in gensyms collect `(,g (gensym)))) `(let (,,@(loop for g in gensyms for n in names collect ``(,,g ,,n))) ,(let (,@(loop for n in names for g in gensyms collect `(,n ,g))) ,@body))))) Given that definition, SBCL shows the following macro expansion: (once-only (from to) `(do ((,var ,from (next-prime (+ 1 ,var)))) ((>= ,var ,to)) ,@body))) -> (LET ((#:G939 (GENSYM)) (#:G940 (GENSYM))) `(LET ((,#:G939 ,FROM) (,#:G940 ,TO)) ,(LET ((FROM #:G939) (TO #:G940)) `(DO ((,VAR ,FROM (NEXT-PRIME (+ ,1 ,VAR)))) ((>= ,VAR ,TO)) ,@BODY)))) Now, my issue is with the second line of the expanded form. Shouldn\'t it be: `(LET (,(,#:G939 ,FROM) ,(,#:G940 ,TO)) ? See how the evaluation of the ,,@ in the first example above ends up \"distributing\" the comma to the elements spliced from the list (c d)? Why doesn\'t that occur here? The two examples seem to share the same structure, but their evaluated results seem inconsistent.
Does \"the canned spinach taste\" have a name? Other than \"the canned spinach taste\"?
Does \"the canned spinach taste\" have a name? Other than \"the canned spinach taste\"? References The taste (which is nasty in my opinion) that is specific to spinach or many leafy greens and sometimes asparagus which is cooked in water, does this taste have a name? What causes that flavor to emerge? I suspect its something to do with chlorophyll since dried basil added to sauce doesn\'t produce the flavor, yet fresh basil does. I added fresh basil to sauce to which it gave the flavor of canned spinach.
Is using protected inheritance to hide (but exploit) implemented interface from the public ok?
Is using protected inheritance to hide (but exploit) implemented interface from the public ok? References Recently, we had a discussion about code using protected inheritance in order to hide the fact (to client code) a class inherits from a specific base class but to exploit this fact in the implementation. The following code demonstrates this. It compiles with recent versions of GCC and clang++ (it uses C++11 features): #include #include class IObserver { public: virtual void update() = 0; }; class Model { std::vector m_observers; int m_number = 0; public: void addObserver(IObserver& observer) { m_observers.push_back(&observer); } void setNumber(int value) { m_number = value; notifyObservers(); } int number() const { return m_number; } protected: void notifyObservers() { for (auto pObserver : m_observers) pObserver->update(); } }; // We want to hide the fact class \'View\' has \'IObserver\' interface. class View : protected IObserver { Model* m_pModel; public: View(Model& model) : m_pModel(&model) { model.addObserver(*this); // Exploit the fact we are an \'IObserver\'. } protected: void update() override { std::cout << m_pModel->number() << std::endl; } }; int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { Model model; View view(model); //view.update(); // ERROR: \'update\' is a protected member of \'View\'. model.setNumber(1); model.setNumber(2); } The \'View\' class inherits \'IObserver\' interface but uses \'protected\' modifier. So correspondingly, the public method \'update\' inherited from that interface is protected. In the constructor, class \'View\' adds itself as an observer to the \'Model\' instance passed in as a parameter. Running the executable will output \'1\' and \'2\' in two separate lines, so the code runs as expected. Now this solution was intensely discussed in our team but in the end there were some questions we could not answer with a common agreement: Is this code actually legal w.r.t. to the C++ standard? The issue here is that, in the constructor, the \'View\' class passes a reference to itself to method \'Model::addOberver\' which expects a reference to an \'IObserver\' instance with a public \'update\' method. However, as the \'View\' class uses protected inheritance, this method now is protected. So when \'Model::notifyObservers\' method is called within \'Model::setNumber\' method, the View\'s \'update\' method will be called \"from outside\" in spite of the fact it is actually protected. (The C++ FAQ Lite states: \"[protected inheritance] allows derived classes of the protected derived class to exploit the relationship to the protected base class\". So this sounds like the code above is a corresponding use case.) Assumed it is legal code, is it also good design? The fact we discussed a lot and didn\'t come to a common agreement might be a hint that it is not. Some of our colleagues had the opinion that a class\' interface is solely defined by its public methods. And if \'View\' class wants to pass a reference to itself to a method expecting an \'IObserver\' instance it must use public inheritance. Some others (including myself) didn\'t agree with this strict definition. The implementation knows about the fact it has (and can provide) an \'IObserver\' interface, so why should it not exploit this knowledge and expose the protected interface to code it wants to? In C++ we are able to define both, a public interface for \"normal\" client code and a protected interface for client code that wants to specialize/extend the class. So from this point of view, a class\' interface is defined by its public and its protected interface. It just depends on which kind of client code \"looks at\" a cla ss\' interface. If the goal is to hide away \'IObserver\' interface from the public, is using the pImpl idiom solely for this purpose worth it? Because we were not able to come to a common conclusion regarding the first two questions we decided to \"workaround\" them by using the pImpl idiom and public inheritance in the implementation class. So we now have a class \'View\' that does not inherit from \'IObserver\' class at all. Instead, a class \'ViewImpl\' now inherits from \'IObserver\' publicly. While we agreed that this is \"good design\" it made our implementation more complex, we have one indirection more, and we now have to maintain nearly twice as much code. Furthermore, we need to maintain inheritance hierarchies for both, the public and the implementation classes. (Of course, these are well-known drawbacks from using the pImpl idiom.) I appreciate your opinions regarding these three questions a lot!!! So many thanks in advance :-)

Creatiing a software using object oriented programming [on hold]
Creatiing a software using object oriented programming [on hold] References This is a question from a coder (beginner level), not a programmer. My plan is to create a software using Python. This software will fetch some raw data contained inside some files which are generated daily in some ftp folders. Then it will clean up those raw data. After all the cleaning and processing, it will plot the processed daily data into graphs using Python matplot library. I will also use Tkinter to make a simple GUI. I think I can do it by writing some low quality code. However, I would prefer to do it using classes and object-oriented programming in general, but I don\'t know how to incorporate classes in this case. What would be you brief plan/design to create this software? How many classes would you use (if any at all)? How much time would this project take? Thank you! More details added: The daily files which the data will be fetched contain satellite observation data taken every minute. The data are in a column format. The program will make some text formatting operations to clean the data and extract what is needed. Also, there will be mathematical operations such as averaging the minute values to hourly numbers. I think to save those values inside lists. Then, I will use those numbers to make daily graphs that visualize the hourly values. Every graph will be saved automatically as a picture file every day inside a folder. There will be a simple graphical interface for with buttons such as \"Browse\", \"Show plot\" etc.

How do I set up a Google Calendar for my group?
How do I set up a Google Calendar for my group? References I belong to a group that puts on events. Different people organize different events, but we are all under the umbrella of one group name. We want to create a Google Calendar where we can all add events to it. We first created a Google account, and shared the login information, and then started putting events on it. However, when we exported the calendar, we found that it showed up in other people\'s calendars under the name we use for the Google account, not the name of our group. We tried changing the name of the account to reflect the group name, but got a warning saying we were violating Google\'s naming policies. The same warning said that if we wanted to create a calendar for a group, we should make a Google+ page, which I did, but I can\'t see any way of creating a calendar with it. How do we get a calendar that is for our group, displays under our group name when people import it, and all our members can add events?
